Central Yorkshire League

Ten clubs entered the Central Yorkshire League in 1938, Ossett finally winning the title with 2 points to spare from

Dewsbury and Savile, the remaining clubs were: Batley, Birstall, Cleckheaton, Heckmondwike, Liversedge, Morley,

Staincliffe and Wakefield.

Meanwhile the rival Heavy Woollen League was operating with only six clubs – Drighlington, Gomersal, Hanging Heaton,

Hartshead Moor, Scholes and Thornhill with most of the clubs merging around 1944 to form the C.Y.L as we know it today.
